Erwin Rijanto, Deputy Governor

erwin_r.jpg Erwin Rijanto was born in Yogyakarta in 1958. He obtained a Bachelor's of Economics from Gadjah Mada University in 1983. He went on to acquire a Master's Degree in Economics from the Illinois University in the United States.

Following a seventeen-year career in banking regulation and supervision, his capacity as a wellrounded central banker was further developed with his appointment as the Deputy Head of the Governor Bureau in 2004.

In addition to his extensive experiences in banking regulation and supervision, Erwin had also worked in international and regional departments when serving as the Deputy Head of Indonesian Debt Restructuring Agency and as the Director of Bank Indonesia Representative Office in Singapore.

His brilliant achievements were further enriched when Erwin was entrusted to become the Executive Director of Financial System Surveillance Department in 2013, a new Department formed following the enactment of Bank Indonesia new mandate in macroprudential regulation and supervision. In this capacity, Erwin was responsible to establish and implement sound and strong macroprudential supervisory framework. His excellent performance led him to a new position as the Executive Director of Macroprudential Policy in 2015, the same year that Erwin was appointed as Deputy Governor of Bank Indonesia.

Erwin Rijanto was appointed as Deputy Governor based on the Presidential Decree Number 39/P of 2015, and officially started his term since June 17th of 2015 for the period of 2015-2020.
