CALL FOR PAPER: CONFERENCE AND POSTER PRESENTATION 9th International Conferences, Bulletin of Monetary Economics and Banking -2015

BALANCING HIGH SUSTAINABILITY GROWTH AND MACROECONOMIC STABILITY Jakarta – Indonesia, Thursday, 6th August 2015

THE BACKGROUND

The world has witnessed the structural transformation from an agrarian economy to an industrial economy is not smooth as convergence and catching up theory said. For emerging economies, growth does not necessarily means higher domestic activities, and is commonly subject to external shock. On the other hand, many of these economies rely on foreign to finance their growth. On Indonesian case, 32.5% of the financing originates from abroad; unfortunately 40% of them are short term capital flow, which potentially lead to instability. Furthermore, there is a threshold before their economy start to overheat; for the case of Indonesia, the threshold is about 6.5%.

Making sure the development run on its optimal growth path may calls the government to be an active doer. However, criticism also arises frequently over potential excesses or ineffectiveness of regulation and intervention. The government can play a decisively catalytic and more than merely constructive role.

For the above reasons, exploring the space for optimal intervention and pushing economy to reach ideal capacity becomes very important; and The Bulletin of Monetary Economic and Banking raise such concern on its 9th International conference on the optimal role of new government. The conference calls the attention of practitioner, academician, researcher and policy maker, to discuss and to share the ideas for better and perhaps more equalized economy.
