No. 27/58/DKom
In synergy with the Coordinating Ministry for Infrastructure and Regional Development, Ministry of Transport, and Jakarta Regional Government, Bank Indonesia today (14/03/25) officially launched QRIS Tap as an exciting innovation in the digital payment system. QRIS Tap provides a fast, convenient, affordable, secure and reliable alternative payment method for the public, particularly to support public services and digital retail transactions. Using QRIS Tap, transactions are possible simply by tapping a smartphone close to a payment terminal. QRIS Tap was launched at the Bundaran HI Bank DKI MRT Station by Bank Indonesia Governor, Perry Warjiyo, Minister of Transport, Dudy Purwagandhi, Jakarta Governor, Pramono Anung, Indonesia Payment System Association (ASPI) Chairman, Santoso Liem, leaders of Payment Service Providers (PSP) and Payment System Infrastructure Operators (PIP) as well as leaders of transportation operators implementing QRIS Tap.
In his remarks, Bank Indonesia Governor, Perry Warjiyo, emphasised the benefits of QRIS Tap, which utilises Near Field Communication (NFC) to increase the speed and security of contactless transactions for the community. “QRIS Tap implementation will expand an inclusive, secure and affordable digital payment ecosystem for public services, while supporting the Government's Asta Cita program. QRIS Tap implementation is the direct result of close synergy between Bank Indonesia, the Coordinating Ministry for Infrastructure and Regional Development, Ministry of Transportation, Payment Service Providers (PSP) and the Jakarta Regional Government, thus ensuring the public availability of such services," explained Governor Perry.
The Minister of Transport, Dudy Purwagandhi, pledged his full support for QRIS Tap implementation. “QRIS Tap is a payment and transportation collaboration that is consistent with the vision of national digital transformation, while contributing to improve the efficiency of public services and expanding the national digital ecosystem. QRIS Tap represents a catalyst of public transformation in accordance with government commitment to improve connectivity infrastructure," stated Dudy Purwagandhi. In addition, Minister Dudy reiterated that all transportation modes will apply QRIS Tap optimally, while prioritising security and convenience.
QRIS Tap will be implemented gradually and, ultimately, used broadly across various transportation mode channels, public services and other merchants. At this initial stage, QRIS Tap can be used at several transportation locations, parking lots, hospitals, retail spaces and MSMEs, including Bundaran HI and Lebak Bulus MRT stations, Transjakarta (limited to Royaltrans), DAMRI (limited to JR Connexion Jabodetabek), parking merchants, and hospitals, including RSUD Tarakan, RSCM Kencana, and RSPAD Gatot Subroto Paviliun Kartika.
During the next phase, QRIS Tap implementation will be expanded to all MRT stations, Transjakarta routes, Jakarta and Jabodebek LRT routes, DAMRI ticketing, KRL (Jabodetabek and Jogja – Solo routes), Teman Bus and other merchants. Members of the public can access the latest information concerning the technical aspects and phases of QRIS Tap implementation in the transportation sector and other merchants via the information delivery channels of each operator and merchant.
QRIS Tap does not incur any fees for the user, with a 0% Merchant Discount Rate (MDR) for public services agencies (BLU) and public service obligations (PSO), and merchants in other categories subject to a Merchant Discount Rate in accordance with the current scheme. This is consistent with supporting the Government's Asta Cita program to provide affordable transportation infrastructure for the community and to increase the use of QRIS Tap in the transportation sector. Moving forward, Bank Indonesia is firmly committed to collaborating in synergy with all stakeholders to expand QRIS Tap acceptance and develop sustainable payment system innovation line with the Indonesia Payment System Blueprint (BSPI) 2030.
