The digital economy and finance in Indonesia have grown rapidly to become the backbone of future economic growth. In line with the Government's Asta Cita program, digitalisation has been placed as a national priority in the development of an efficient and inclusive economy, empowering technology towards Golden Indonesia in 2045. The use of digital payment systems, including the Quick Response Code Indonesia Standard (QRIS), has reached nearly 60 million users, providing greater convenience, efficiency and speed. Approximately 93% of QRIS users are micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), thus reflecting the organic growth of financial digitalisation in the community. That was the key takeaway from the opening ceremony of the Indonesia Digital Economy and Finance Festival and Indonesia Fintech Summit & Expo 2025 (FEKDI x IFSE 2025) taking place in Hall B of the JICC in Jakarta (30/10/25). The flagship event is the result of synergic collaboration between Bank Indonesia, the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs, Indonesia Financial Services Authority (OJK), Indonesia Payment System Association (ASPI) and Indonesia FinTech Association (Aftech) to accelerate digital transformation in Indonesia.
“Synergy between FEKDI and IFSE serves as concrete support for national policy synergy, which is key to accelerating digital transformation in Indonesia as an integral part of the Asta Cita program," remarked Bank Indonesia Governor, Perry Warjiyo, at the opening ceremony. Growth of the digital economy and finance in Indonesia remains one of the fastest globally and will continue to accelerate. “Currently, Indonesia is the fastest growing digital economy," declared Governor Perry Warjiyo. In the third quarter of 2025, the volume of digital payment transactions reached 12.99 billion, growing 38.08% (yoy) in line with broader acceptance and the expansion of digital payment channels. This milestone reflects the increasingly solid foundations of national payment system digitalisation as a key driver of digital economic growth in Indonesia.
In addition, Chairman of the OJK Board of Commissioners, Mahendra Siregar, reiterated that digital transformation is not only about the application of technology, yet also an effort to nurture innovation that expands access to inclusive finance, increases the efficiency and security of services, as well as strengthens public trust in the financial system. “Digital transformation requires a solid foundation, confidence in the system, governance and consumer protection. Innovation, risk management and trusted governance, therefore, go hand in hand," added OJK Chief Mahendra.
Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, Airlangga Hartarto, said “Along with the compelling opportunities, new challenges are also emerging in terms of safeguarding the security of payment systems, increasing public digital literacy and building trust to ensure sustainable and responsible growth of digital financial innovation." Consequently, the Government has published a White Paper concerning the National Strategy for Digital Economic Development in Indonesia 2030 and the National Artificial Intelligence Roadmap. Furthermore, the Government has also unlocked broader access to technology investment across various sectors, including the financial sector. Such measures must be utilised by Indonesia's younger generation.
The Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional development, Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono, emphasised the importance of physical and digital infrastructure in creating an inclusive ecosystem for the digital economy and finance. “We are providing infrastructure to bridge the gap between those with and without access to digital spaces. Public literacy must improve to ensure we keep up with our neighbours. No one and no region left behind."
Various initiatives were announced at FEKDI x IFSE 2025, as a form of synergy between the government, authorities and industry, to strengthen the digital economy and finance ecosystem in Indonesia. Such digital initiatives include the official launch the Tap In-Tap Out feature of QRIS TAP across five transportation modes[1] and parking facilities. The QRIS Cross-Border sandbox between Indonesia and South Korea was also launched at the event as a strategic measure to strengthen cross-border payment system linkages and connectivity.
As part of the activities on the first day of FEKDI x IFSE 2025, high-level talks discussed Policy Synergy and Collaboration to Support Digitalisation as a New Source of Growth (30/10/25). Opening the discussion, the Minister of Communications and Digital Affairs, Meutya Hafid, explained how digital transformation policy as a driver of economic growth encompasses three main aspects, namely integrated digital economic development, accelerating digital transformation and digital talent creation. Echoing those sentiments, Deputy Governor of Bank Indonesia, Filianingsih Hendarta, stated that digitalisation has become a new motor of economic growth that is changing the way transactions, production and interactions are conducted in the economic space. “Implementation of the Indonesia Payment System Blueprint (BSPI) 2025 has produced tangible outcomes. Nationally, digital transactions have grown quickly to Rp59.4 thousand trillion, approximately three times Indonesia's GDP. The spirit of synergy, collaboration and innovation will enable digitalisation to develop safely and sustainably as a new strength towards Golden Indonesia in 2045."
Over the next three days, FEKDI x IFSE 2025 is set to become the largest collaborative stage for Indonesia's digital economy and finance, entitled Synergy and Innovation to Accelerate Digital Economic and Financial Transformation in Indonesia. The first day of the event focuses on collaboration between the government and authorities, affirming national policy harmony to accelerate the digital ecosystem. The second day will focus on collaboration between the authorities and industry, accelerating the innovation of digital services. And the third day will focus on new frontier innovation as a platform to share ideas and new technologies that can provide insight for the authorities, industry and community at large.
Throughout the day, visitors will be treated to various educational and interactive activities, a digital experience showcase of the latest innovative digital products and networking sessions to strengthen collaboration among stakeholders. Members of the public are invited to participate in all events in person or online through the official website https://fekdixifse.co.id.
