Press Releases

No: 27/256/DKom

Through educational visits to the Bank Indonesia Museum in the Old Town (Kota Tua) of Jakarta, hundreds of Sekolah Rakyat students were taught to understand the meaning and value of the rupiah in a fun and exciting way, specifically coinciding with Youth Pledge Day on 28th October 2025. Entitled “Learning with Bank Indonesia (BI)", students were taught about the history of money, the role of the central bank and the importance of smart financial management from an early age. Around 200 pupils from three primary schools in Jakarta, namely SRMA 10 South Jakarta, SRMA 9 East Jakarta and SRMP 6 Bambu Apus, East Jakarta, enthusiastically attended the event. They explored the museum's grand exhibition halls, viewed numismatic collections of banknotes and coins from various eras and participated in interactive games as part of the Rupiah Love, Pride and Understanding (CBP) program.

The Minister of Social Affairs for the Republic of Indonesia, Saifullah Yusuf, also attended the initiative, emphasising the importance of instilling the CBP values of Rupiah Love, Pride and Understanding from an early age to the Sekolah Rakyat students. He explained how the program not only provides greater understanding concerning the value and function of the rupiah but also nurtures a sense of love for the country, while also serving as a foundation for developing good financial literacy. “With a good understanding of financial literacy, Sekolah Rakyat students have the capacity to manage their finances more wisely, thereby enabling them to plan and achieve a more prosperous and independent financial life," concluded Minister Saifullah Yusuf.

The Executive Director of the BI Communication Department, Ramdan Denny Prakoso, expressed his gratitude and appreciation for the collaboration with the Ministry of Social Affairs in terms of initiating the 'Learning with BI' initiative as part of the primary school program. “We are delighted to provide education on the history of the rupiah and currency management in Indonesia in order to foster Rupiah Love, Pride and Understanding (CBP). We expect this program to strengthen financial literacy among the younger generation as a tangible contribution from Bank Indonesia to create quality human resources (HR) in line with the Government's initiative to educate the country's children towards Golden Indonesia 2045," said Ramdan Denny.

The CBP Rupiah educational program is a BI initiative to raise awareness among the younger generation to better understand, appreciate and use rupiah currency wisely. Through greater understanding from an early age, Indonesian children are expected to grow up with a sense of pride in the Indonesian currency and understand the important role played by the rupiah in the national economy. The CBP Rupiah educational program has been implemented by Bank Indonesia since 2021 and continues to expand through various literacy initiatives in schools, communities and educational institutions. CBP Rupiah education, entitled 'Learning with Bank Indonesia' at the Bank Indonesia Museum, will be attended by 773 pupils from eight primary schools in the Jabodetabek region.

In addition to the exciting educational activities, the Sekolah Rakyat students also enjoyed a tour of the Bank Indonesia Museum to learn about the history of the Indonesian economy, as well as the duties, function and policies of the central bank. Through this initiative, Bank Indonesia hopes the CBP values of Rupiah Love, Pride and Understanding can be instilled from an early age in the students, while creating awareness that maintaining and using the rupiah smartly is a form of love for the country and a tangible contribution to the Indonesian economy.
