The latest Business Survey conducted by Bank Indonesia indicates increasing business activity in the second quarter of 2025. This was reflected by a higher weighted net balance (WNB) of 11.70% in the reporting period, up from 7.63% in the first quarter of 2025. Increasing business activity was driven by stronger performance across most economic sectors, particularly Public Administration, Defence and Compulsory Social Security given government budget realisation in line with seasonal trends, as well as the Manufacturing Industry and Accommodation and Food Service Activities in response to maintained demand during the series of national religious holidays during the second quarter of 2025.

Production capacity utilisation in the second quarter of 2025 was recorded at a level of 73.58%, increasing from 73.25% in the first quarter of 2025. The increase was primarily supported by the Mining and Quarrying sector as well as Electricity Supply. Meanwhile, corporate financial conditions generally remained sound in terms of liquidity and profitability, coupled with persistently accessible credit.

Respondents predict business activity to continue increasing in the third quarter of 2025, as indicated by a WNB of 11.98%. Respondents anticipate growth to primarily stem from improvements in the Construction sector as various government and private sector projects commence, as well as the Mining and Quarrying sector in line with maintained demand.
