Siaran Pers
Press Releases

No. 28/39/DKom

In synergy with the banking industry, Bank Indonesia has strengthened rupiah exchange services in response to public demand for sufficient cash, fit for circulation during the Ramadan and Eid-ul-Fitr festive period in 2026. The services are provided through the SERAMBI 2026 program, officially kicked off by the Deputy Governor of Bank Indonesia, Ricky P. Gozali, together with leaders of the banking industry and Indonesia Currency Management Services Association (APJATIN), at Bank Indonesia in Jakarta on 13th February 2026.

Through the SERAMBI 2026 program, which runs until 15th March 2026, Bank Indonesia has prepared rupiah currency fit for circulation totalling Rp185.6 trillion, of which Rp177 trillion has been allocated to meet the needs of the banking industry, including cash withdrawals from ATMs and branch offices. Deputy Ricky stated that the amount of rupiah currency made available in 2026 has increased compared with 2025, reflecting stronger economic activity, community mobility and household consumption, while meeting the anticipated increase in demand for both cash and cashless payment systems during Ramadan and Eid-ul-Fitr and supporting growth in 2026. Amid increasing economic activity during the Eid-ul-Fitr period, Bank Indonesia is also urging the public to utilise fast, convenient, affordable, secure and reliable mobile and internet banking transactions, including money transfers using BI-FAST and QRIS.

To that end, synergy between Bank Indonesia, the banking industry and all partners through the SERAMBI 2026 program is key to providing accessible, orderly and seamless cash services. Deputy Ricky expressed his sincere appreciation to the banking industry, APJATIN and all partners of Bank Indonesia for their support and collaboration in the SERAMBI 2026 program. Such maintained synergy is expected to ensure that currency distribution runs smoothly, in line with the needs of the community.

Seeking to provide convenient and equitable cash exchange services, the public can place orders through the PINTAR application (pintar.bi.go.id). In 2026, Bank Indonesia has prepared Rp8.6 trillion for cash exchange services with a value of Rp5.3 million per package. Cash exchange services are available at 2,883 strategic points, with Bank Indonesia and the banking industry providing a total of 8,755 services throughout Indonesia. Exchange services are accessible via various channels, including mobile cash services, commercial bank offices and integrated exchange services at strategic locations, including places of worship and community centres. In the Jakarta region, integrated exchange services are available from 12-15th March 2026 at the GBK Basketball Hall in Senayan.

Through the PINTAR application, members of the public can select a convenient time and location based on their individual needs. The exchange quota will be implemented in two stages. Orders during the first phase will begin at 14:00 WIB on 13th February 2026 for the Java region and 08:00 WIB on 14th February 2026 for orders outside the Java region. The second phase will begin at 08:00 WIB on 26th February 2026 for the Java region and 08:00 WIB on 27th February 2026 for regions outside Java.

Through SERAMBI 2026 program, BI again urges the public to remain diligent when identifying genuine rupiah banknotes based on the 3D method (look, feel, tilt). Bank Indonesia also encourages members of the public to look after rupiah banknotes in accordance with the 5J Principles, namely to avoid folding, defacing, crumpling, stapling or exposing the banknotes to liquids. Synergy in the provision of adequate currency, faster digital payments and the active role of the community in smart transactions are expected to strengthen seamless payment systems during Ramadan and Eid-ul-Fitr in 2026.
