Karya Kreatif Indonesia 2026: Digital Innovation Key to Level Up MSMEs

Digital transformation is becoming increasingly important to boost productivity, expand markets and help micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) level up amid the rapid development of the digital economy. Bank Indonesia, therefore, continues encouraging MSMEs to go digital through three main strategies: e-farming through digital farming to improve productivity and efficiency; e-commerce through MSME onboarding to expand access to digital markets; and e-financing through the Financial Information Recording Application Information System (SIAPIK) to strengthen financial bookkeeping and access to finance. That was the key takeaway delivered by the Deputy Governor of Bank Indonesia, Filianingsih Hendarta, during her opening remarks at the Karya Kreatif Indonesia (KKI) 2026 Innovation Talk, entitled 'Accelerating MSME Digital Transformation: Integrating Digital Innovation to Level Up MSMEs' at JICC Jakarta on 21st August 2026. The event was attended by representatives from government ministries/agencies, mentored MSMEs, academia and financial institutions.

Deputy Governor Filianingsih further emphasised the importance of strengthening the digital innovation ecosystem to promote MSME transformation and competitiveness. Bank Indonesia continues strengthening such efforts, including through the development of the Indonesian Digital Innovation Centre (PIDI), which connects talent, innovators, industry, the Government and strategic partners to produce relevant digital solutions applicable to the real sector, including MSMEs. “With empowered talent, implementable innovation and a mutually reinforcing ecosystem, we are optimistic that Indonesian MSMEs will continue to transform, grow and level up, while supporting more inclusive and sustainable economic growth," concluded Deputy Governor Filianingsih.

PIDI represents synergy between Bank Indonesia, the Financial Services Authority (OJK) and strategic partners in accelerating innovation and developing national digital talent. For MSMEs, PIDI provides a platform for producing applied digital solutions that are easy to adopt and can be widely replicated to boost productivity and efficiency, while expanding access to markets and finance.

MSME digital transformation is also reflected in the broader acceptance of digital payments, including through QRIS. As of June 2026, QRIS was utilised by 65.77 million users and accepted by 44.86 million merchants, of which 96.68% were MSMEs. QRIS expansion not only facilitates transactions but also connects MSMEs with the digital economy and finance ecosystem.

The Innovation Talk featured Fitria Irmi Triswati from the Payment System Policy Department at Bank Indonesia; young innovators and PIDI finalists Irpan Rambe and Fahrul Hadi Kusuma; as well as Pipit Candra, founder of Bernard Tani, a horticultural MSME coached by Bank Indonesia. The speakers shared perspectives and experiences concerning the use of digital innovation to improve business performance, expand markets, increase access to finance and help MSMEs level up. The discussion also highlighted the importance of utilising MSME digital data by the banking industry and strengthening digital record-keeping among MSMEs to improve efficiency, governance and access to finance.

Bank Indonesia will continue strengthening synergy with all stakeholders to accelerate MSME digital transformation. In the spirit of Beudaya MeusareSare, Empowered, Together, digital transformation is expected to foster increasingly adaptive, innovative and competitive MSMEs that can grow and level up, while becoming a source of economic growth for Indonesia moving forward.

Come and join KKI 2026 by visiting the exhibition in Halls A and B of JICC, Jakarta, or online via www.karyakreatifindonesia.co.id. Together, let us support Indonesian MSMEs to recover, become resilient and competitive, and serve as a source of national pride.
