According to the latest Business Survey conducted by Bank Indonesia, business activity was maintained in the first quarter of 2025, as indicated by a positive weighted net balance (WNB) of 7.63%. Several economic sectors posted positive performance, led by Financial Services, followed by Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing as well as Wholesale and Retail Trade, and Repair of Motor Vehicles and Motorcycles. This was consistent with the ongoing harvesting season in several national food producing hubs, coupled with a surge of activity during the Ramadan and Eid-ul-Fitr festive period.
Production capacity utilisation in the first quarter of 2025 was recorded at a level of 73.25%, up from 72.91% in the fourth quarter of 2024. This was primarily supported by Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing sectors. Meanwhile, corporate financial conditions generally remained sound in terms of liquidity and profitability, coupled with accessible credit.
Respondents predict business activity to increase in the second quarter of 2025, as indicated by a WNB of 15.35%. Respondents anticipate growth to primarily stem from Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing in line with conducive weather conditions, the availability of production facilities and storage capacity, as well as maintained demand.
