Bank Financing Supply and Demand Survey January 2024: Limited Growth of Corporate Demand for Financing and New Loan Disbursements

Press Releases

No. 26/38/DKom

The latest Bank Financing Supply and Demand survey conducted by Bank Indonesia in January 2024 indicates limited growth of corporate demand for financing, as reflected by a lower Weighted Net Balance (WNB) of 6.5% in the reporting period.  This was primarily driven by strong demand in the mining sector.  Corporate demand for financing was mainly sourced from internal funds, followed by committed undisbursed loans and financing from domestic banks.

New loan disbursements by the banking industry in January 2024 also recorded limited growth, with a WNB of 24.5%.  The main factors affecting new loan disbursements in the reporting period were the monetary and economic outlook, customer demand for financing as well as the level of competition between banking institutions.  Meanwhile, respondents predict moderating growth of new loan disbursements by the banking industry in the first quarter of 2024 in line with historical trends.

In terms of household, demand for new financing maintained relatively stable growth in January 2024, with most sourced from commercial banks.  In addition to the banking industry, households also relied on other sources to meet their financing needs, including cooperatives and leasing.

More information concerning the Bank Financing Supply and Demand Survey is available on the Bank Indonesia website.
