The latest Consumer Survey conducted by Bank Indonesia in August 2023 indicates growing consumer confidence in economic conditions compared to one month earlier, as reflected by an uptick in the Consumer Confidence Index (CCI) to 125.2 from 123.5 in July 2023.
Consumer confidence grew in August 2023 on the back of a persistently strong Current Economic Condition Index (CECI) and Consumer Expectation Index (CEI). The CECI increased across all component indexes, particularly the Purchase of Durable Goods Index. Meanwhile, the CEI primarily posted gains in terms of the Business Activity Expectation Index and Job Availability Expectation Index.
