CPI Inflation in October 2026 Remains Under Control

No. 28/238/DKom

Consumer Price Index (CPI) inflation in October 2026 was contained within the 2.5±1% target corridor. Based on data released by BPS-Statistics Indonesia, the CPI in October 2026 recorded 0.22% (mtm) inflation, bringing annual headline inflation to 3.23% (yoy), lower than the 3.28% (yoy) recorded in the previous month. Inflation was maintained within the target range due to monetary policy consistency and close inflation control synergy between Bank Indonesia and the (central and regional) Government through the Central/Regional Inflation Control Teams (TPIP/TPID), while strengthening implementation of the National Food Security Program. Moving forward, Bank Indonesia is confident that inflation will remain under control and within the 2.5±1% target range in 2026 and 2027.

Core inflation remained under control. Core inflation in October 2026 was recorded at 0.12% (mtm), relatively stable compared with 0.10% (mtm) realised in the previous period. Core inflation was influenced by persistent external headwinds, while inflation expectations remained anchored to the target corridor. Annually, core inflation in October 2026 was recorded at 2.56% (yoy), lower than the 2.84% (yoy) realised in the previous month.

Volatile food (VF) inflation remained under control. VF in October 2026 recorded 0.77% (mtm) inflation, lower than 1.46% (mtm) inflation in the previous period. The main contributors to VF inflation were red chillies and bird's eye chillies, driven by lower production in several major production hubs. Annually, VF inflation was recorded at 5.81% (yoy), up from 5.03% (yoy) in the previous month. Moving forward, Bank Indonesia will continue strengthening synergy with the Government through the TPIP/TPID teams in implementing the Inflation Control and Food Prosperity Movement (GPIPS) to control food inflation, including measures to anticipate the impact of extreme weather disruptions (El Niño) on food supply and prices.

Administered prices (AP) recorded inflation. AP in October 2026 recorded 0.09% (mtm) inflation, up from 0.00% (mtm) in the previous month. The main contributor to monthly AP inflation was airfares, following the implementation of a 40% fuel surcharge for domestic economy-class flights. Annually, AP inflation stood at 3.24% (yoy), slightly lower than the 3.25% (yoy) inflation recorded in the previous period.
