Bank Indonesia (BI) and the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) have agreed to enhance bilateral cooperation in the central banking areas through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) by the Governor of Bank Indonesia, Mr. Perry Warjiyo, and the Governor of SBV, Mrs. Nguyen Thi Hong, on 7 March 2025. This agreement is an important part of deliverables of the meeting between the President of the Republic of Indonesia, H.E. Prabowo Subianto, and the Genereral Secretary of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, H.E. To Lam, on 10 March 2025. The meeting was held to celebrate the 70th anniversary of Indonesia-Vietnam diplomatic relations.
The signing of this MoU reflects a shared commitment to further strengthening the collaboration between the two central banks within a more structured and strategic framework. Under the agreement, BI and SBV will deepen cooperation in core central banking areas, consisting of monetary policy, macroprudential policy and financial stability, and payment and settlement systems, as well as digital innovation. The MOU will be implemented through policy dialogue, technical cooperation, capacity building, and information exchange.
Governor Perry Warjiyo highlighted the MoU as a significant milestone in strengthening ties between BI and SBV, reaffirming their solid partnership. He emphasized that this cooperation would lead to mutually beneficial outcomes for both central banks and contribute positively to economic stability and growth.
Governor Nguyen Thi Hong also recognized the MoU as a crucial step in enhancing financial collaboration between Indonesia and Vietnam, reinforcing the strategic importance of both institutions in maintaining financial and economic resilience.
This strengthened partnership reflects the enduring commitment of BI and SBV to promoting financial stability, economic strength, and sustainable growth in the region.
