Sultan Mahmud Badaruddin II was the the 8th Sultan of the Palembang Sultanate. Since he had been crowned to succeed his father, he actively opposed the invaders. His task was extremely hard, because at that time Palembang was facing a continuous battle against the British and the Dutch.

An image of Limas House from Palembang, South Sumatera. This traditional house has a distinctive roof shape resembling a four square pyramid, decorated with an ornament called “simbar” and a horn on the top of the roof.
For family purposes, Limas house has a multiple floor called “Bengkilas”. When a ceremony is held, guests will be welcomed on a special floor.
