Bank Indonesia is a central bank that functions as an independent state institution, meaning that we implement our duties and responsibilities without interference from the Government or other parties.
The overarching goal of Bank Indonesia is to achieve rupiah stability, maintain payment system stability and also maintain financial system stability in pursuit of sustainable economic growth, as stipulated in Article 7 of Act Number 4 of 2023.
To achieve the goals stated in Article 7, Bank Indonesia is tasked with the following:
- Formulating and implementing monetary policy sustainably, consistently and transparently,
- Regulating and maintaining a seamless payment system, and
- Formulating and implementing macroprudential policy.
In the implementation of those tasks, we reserve the right to:
- Conduct surveys,
- Collect data, information and reports from various relevant parties, and
- Share data and information with other competent authorities and government agencies.
In accordance with Act Number 27 of 2022 concerning Personal Data Protection (PDP Act), our goal in processing personal data is for the public interest, to provide public services and to exercise our authority in accordance with prevailing laws and regulations. We understand the importance of personal data protection. Bank Indonesia is responsible, therefore, for managing personal data by safeguarding the rights of data owners, while ensuring that the data is processed safely and in accordance with prevailing laws and regulations. The personal data we manage includes general data and specific data depending upon prevailing regulations. We collect this data from several sources, including:
- The surveys we conduct,
- The information and reports submitted by relevant parties, and
- The data we receive or exchange with other competent authorities and government agencies.
