I Gusti Ngurah Rai, a National Hero​​

Obverse Side​​

I Gusti Ngurah Rai is a Balinese hero, who was famous with the “Puputan Margarana” war.
He died during the battle, along with 95 of his troops. For his services, I Gusti Ngurah Rai was awarded the title as a National Hero and his name is commemorated as the name of the international airport in Bali.

Reverse Side

An image of Beratan Lake in Bedugul, Bali. This lake is one of the most beautiful lake in the world. At the edge of the lake is Ulun Danu Temple, a famous holy temple of Hindus on the island of Bali.

Built in 1633, this temple is used for offering ceremony to Dewi Danu, Balinese water, lake and river goddess.


Bank Indonesia issues and circulates 1,100 sheets commemorative currency of the 50,000 Rupiah denomination Emission Year 2005 in the form of 4 bilyets uncut banknotes.
Each is issued with a certificate of authenticity from Bank Indonesia. Uncut banknotes is a common numismatic collector’s item and often used as souvenirs.
