KKI 2025: Tangible Evidence of Indonesian MSMEs Levelling Up

Press Releases

No. 27/183/DKom

Karya Kreatif Indonesia (KKI) 2025 has achieved several impressive milestones as tangible evidence of the transformation of Indonesian micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), which are levelling up, competitive and sustainable, while also confirming their place as a key driver of national economic growth. Held over four days from 7-10th August 2025, the KKI expo in 2025 recorded business matching (exports) totalling Rp168.3 billion. Business matching for exports brought together MSMEs under the mentorship of Bank Indonesia and government ministries/agencies with 26 buyers and export aggregators from 17 countries. The value of financing generated from business matching was also exceptional, with MSMEs receiving Rp224 billion and green MSMEs Rp96 billion. Meanwhile, attention and interest from the wider community in the work done by MSMEs were also forthcoming. Public enthusiasm was reflected in the sales turnover of KKI 2025, which totalled Rp98.7 billion, consisting of Rp20 billion in sales at the exhibition and Rp78.7 billion in online sales via the KKI platform. Nearly all transactions at KKI 2025 were processed using Quick Response Code Indonesia Standard (QRIS), providing fast, convenient, affordable, secure and reliable solutions.

Public enthusiasm for KKI 2025 was also reflected in the number of visitors attending the various activation and dialogue forums available. Engagement at the event attracted 152,458 visitors, consisting of 15,552 visitors to the JICC and 136,906 online viewers through Bank Indonesia's omnichannel presence.

Textiles and fabrics are an inextricable part of Indonesia's cultural identity, showcasing bold richness and extraordinary uniqueness. Featuring batik, songket and tenun hand-woven fabrics, every item is deeply intertwined with the story of Indonesian history, culture and traditions. “MSME artisans play a crucial role in preserving Indonesia's cultural heritage. We must support and care for one another through continuous collaboration because the involvement of numerous parties is required to advance the creative works of our MSMEs and designers. In the spirit of Kalala Mareda, let us unite to create." That was the key takeaway delivered by Bank Indonesia Senior Deputy Governor, Destry Damayanti, at the closing ceremony for Karya Kreatif Indonesia (KKI) 2025 held in the Jakarta International Convention Centre (JICC) (10/08/2025).

Opening a talk show on 'Navigating Exports amid International Trade Dynamics', Bank Indonesia Deputy Governor, Aida S. Budiman, explained that MSMEs must level up, be competitive, advanced and innovative as the main pre-requisites for penetrating the international market. In 2024, MSMEs accounted for 15.7% of non-oil and gas exports from Indonesia. Bank Indonesia consistently strives to nurture Go-Export MSMEs, particularly MSMEs under the mentorship of Bank Indonesia, which realised a turnover of Rp1.4 trillion in 2024. The achievements continued in the first quarter of 2025, when 431 MSMEs recorded an export turnover of Rp452.5 billion, up 59.7% (yoy).

Striving to increase the number of MSMEs going global, Bank Indonesia constantly strengthens synergy and collaboration with government ministries/agencies and relevant associations. Bank Indonesia has formulated a development strategy for MSMEs focusing on three main pillars. First, increasing institutional competitiveness (corporatisation), capacity and access to finance. Second, advocating the use of digital technology to support MSMEs. And third, increasing literacy. Pull strategies are implemented with the involvement of MSMEs under the mentorship of Bank Indonesia through various trade and promotion activities abroad, business matching and strengthening networks with international curators. On the other hand, push strategies aim to develop MSMEs in all regions of the Indonesian archipelago.

KKI 2025 represents the tangible commitment of Bank Indonesia to advance Indonesian MSMEs towards resiliency and competitiveness globally. Involving collaboration with 24 government ministries/agencies and more than 1,400 MSMEs/businesses online and offline, KKI 2025 presented various innovative solutions/activations and increased international collaborations that introduced Indonesian creative works to the global stage in line with the vision to level up Indonesian MSMEs and expand market share globally.
