Bank Indonesia is firmly
committed to nurturing MSMEs, particularly during the pandemic, towards revival
and maintaining optimism. Such
commitment is on display at Karya Kreatif Indonesia (KKI) in 2021 as a quality,
structured and integrated one-stop virtual event. KKI was also designed as a
media to strengthen business networks and regional potential. “BI never tires
of presenting quality MSME products that are accessible wherever and whenever
via the Karya Kreatif Indonesia website, supported by a rapid, convenient,
affordable, secure and reliable payment system,” stated BI Governor, Perry
Warjiyo, in his virtual opening address today (23/9). In total, 525 MSMEs from all over the
archipelago attended KKI 2021, including those under the mentorship of Bank
Indonesia, government ministries/agencies and local government, participating
in a virtual exhibition from 23rd-26th September 2021
that can be accessed via www.karyakreatifindonesia.co.id.
Bank Indonesia remains
committed to advancing MSMEs nationally as the backbone of the domestic
economy. Such commitment was also
demonstrated through the active participation of regional and international
Bank Indonesia Representative Offices. Support for MSMEs includes clustering
and capacity building in terms of production, finance, national and global
marketing as well as MSME digitalisation. Bank Indonesia also continues to
accelerate integration of the digital economy and finance through payment
system infrastructure to create competitive MSMEs, including utilisation of the
Quick Response Code Indonesia Standard (QRIS) as a payment method available to
MSMEs and tourism services providers. Based
on the latest data in the middle of September 2021, a total of 10.4 million
merchants are now using QRIS.
At the same event, the First
Lady of the Republic of Indonesia, Iriana Joko
Widodo,
explained that the opportunity for rapid MSME growth looms large considering
the massive domestic market and open international market. This opportunity, however, requires the
support of virtual spaces, accessible whenever and wherever, to market products
and expand the reach of MSME products.
In addition, four
government ministers from the Onward Indonesia Cabinet delivered testimonials
at the virtual event. Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan,
Coordinating Minister of Maritime Affairs and Investment, explained how KKI
supports MSME on the downstream side through market creation. KKI also promotes
premium quality products with convenient payments using QRIS. Meanwhile, the
Minister of Cooperatives and Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), Teten
Masduki, described how the synergy, collaboration and mutual cooperation
brought by KKI has impacted the community, particularly in terms of local economic
recovery as well as preparing competitive MSMEs for the global market. The Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy,
Sandiaga Uno,
urged MSMEs to “unite in optimism and level up to world-class
enterprises”. The Minister of Maritime
Affairs and Fisheries, Sakti Wahyu Trenggono, expressed his appreciation to
Bank Indonesia for its support of the national BBI and BWI movements,
particularly in terms of maritime and fishing MSMEs.
The MSME onboarding
program to digital platforms/marketplaces continues. Through the National BBI
Movement promoting pride in Indonesian-made products, a total of 7.2 million
MSMEs participated in the onboarding program from May 2020 until July
2021. End-to-end strengthening of MSMEs
encompasses broader market access, including the export market. Bank Indonesia has also supported the
national BBI and BWI movements through active trade promotion under the
auspices of domestic and international representative offices.
Entitled “MSME and
Tourism Sector Synergy, Globalisation and Digitalisation,” the event is the culmination
of ‘Road to KKI’ activities in 2021, while simultaneously supporting the
national BBI and BWI movements. KKI 2021 features various performances,
showcases and exhibitions of MSME products, as well as policy dialogue,
business coaching, business matching, talk shows, webinars, arts and cultural
performances, onboarding and awards. All KKI activities and the exhibition
showcases are accessible via www.karyakreatifindonesia.co.id. A full catalogue and contact menu are also
available on the KKI website.
