The latest Supply and Demand Financing Survey indicated growing corporate demand for financing in April 2021, as confirmed by a bump in the corresponding weighted net balance (WNB) 1 to 24.8% from 16.6% in March 2021. Increasing demand for financing was reported by respondents in Agriculture, Fishing and Forestry; Information and Communication; Foodservice Activities; as well as Mining, primarily to support operational activities. This month, more survey respondents acknowledged that corporate demand for financing would be met through internal funds as well as undisbursed loans, accompanied by smaller respective portions met through loans from domestic banks or parent companies.
Similar to conditions one month earlier, the latest survey also revealed restrained household demand for new financing in April 2021. Nonetheless, commercial banks remained the primary source of household financing, dominated by multipurpose loans.
On the supply side, new loan disbursements growth from the banking industry moderated in April 2021. By bank group, new loan disbursements recorded growth increased across all bank categories and loan types. For the second quarter of 2021 as a whole, however, respondents expected new loan disbursements to accelerate, as reflected by a weighted net balance (WNB) of 81.1%.
