Bank Indonesia and Bank of Korea today announced a renewal of a bilateral currency swap arrangement (BCSA), which was signed by the Governor of Bank Indonesia, Perry Warjiyo and the Governor of Bank of Korea, RHEE, Chang Yong. The arrangement provides a framework for the exchange of local currencies between the two central banks of up to KRW10.7 trillion or IDR115 trillion.
The arrangement aims to promote bilateral trade and strengthen financial cooperation between Indonesia and the Republic of Korea. In particular, the arrangement also supports the settlement of trade transactions using local currencies of both countries, thereby contributing to regional financial stability. The BCSA between Bank Indonesia and Bank of Korea was first signed in March 2014 and has been extended several times (March 2017 and March 2020). The current extension will be effective for five years, from March 6, 2026 to March 5, 2031, and may be further extended upon mutual agreement of both central banks.
This arrangement reflects the close economic relationship between Indonesia and the Republic of Korea, including financial cooperation between the two central banks
