Official Reserve Assets Remain Solid in September 2026

Government Press Release

No.28/214/DKom

Indonesia's official reserve assets remained solid at USD146.3 billion at the end of September 2026, relatively stable compared with USD146.5 billion at the end of August 2026. Such development was primarily attributable to government's foreign loan withdrawal as well as tax and services receipts, amid maturing government external debt repayments and Bank Indonesia's rupiah stabilisation policy, in response to persistently high global financial markets uncertainty. The reserve assets position at the end of September 2026 was equivalent to 5.3 months of imports, or 5.2 months of imports and servicing the government external debt, which is well above the international adequacy standard of around three months of imports. Bank Indonesia considers the current level of reserve assets is sufficient to bolster external sector resilience and to maintain macroeconomic and financial system stability.

Going forward, Bank Indonesia views that external sector resilience will remain sound, supported by an adequate level of official reserve assets and foreign capital inflows, in line with positive investor perceptions of Indonesia's economic outlook and attractive investment returns. Bank Indonesia will also continue strengthening synergy with the Government towards bolstering external resilience, thereby safeguarding economic stability to support sustainable economic growth.
