Bank Indonesia today (16/8) submitted Bank Indonesia’s Draft Annual Budget for 2020 to the People’s Representative Council (DPR) of the Republic of Indonesia in Jakarta. The budget submission represents Bank Indonesia's avowed commitment to prioritising transparency, accountability and governance in the execution of duties and authority in order to achieve the overarching goal as mandated by the Bank Indonesia Act (No. 23) of 1999, most recently amended by Act No. 6 of 2009.

The draft annual budget contains the draft revenues and expenses from Bank Indonesia’s operating activities to achieve the main goal at head office as well as domestic and international representative offices as mandated by prevailing laws. The scope of the Draft Annual Budget for 2020 submitted to DPR encompasses four main aspects, namely Bank Indonesia Task Implementation in 2019, Annual Budget 2019 Implementation Evaluation and Prognosis, Bank Indonesia’s Policy Direction for 2020, and the Draft Annual Budget for 2020.

The Draft Annual Budget for 2020 was formulated and compiled based on the BI Governor’s Annual Direction (ATGBI) for 2019 along with a company-wide performance evaluation and taking into consideration the first-year implementation of the Bank Indonesia Strategic Direction for 2018-2024, strategic environmental analysis, the latest economic conditions and challenges faced, as well as policy transformation using an integrated policy framework approach supported by organisational transformation and the transformation of human resources and the work culture at Bank Indonesia.

As a final step to ensure the Draft Annual Budget for 2020 is accountable and in compliance with good governance, the work plan and budget have been honed and aligned with the seven missions and Destination Statement of Bank Indonesia by strengthening the 12 Strategic Programs to support the accomplishment of Bank Indonesia's vision for 2024 namely “To provide a tangible contribution to Indonesia's national economy and become the best central bank in emerging market economies.”
