No. 26/111/DKom

Bank Indonesia (BI) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia (Kemlu RI) have agreed to strengthen international economic diplomacy towards increasing institutional collaboration through coordinated and synergetic international relations, thus strengthening policies that establish Indonesia's international interests. This was marked by the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Governor of Bank Indonesia, Perry Warjiyo, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, Retno L.P. Marsudi, on 15th May 2024.

The cooperation focuses on three main aspects. First, managing Indonesia's positive perception and promote investment and trade collectively to support the national economy and increase understanding of policy in Indonesia. Second, formulating Indonesia's position and implementing international relations to support Indonesia's interests and expand Indonesia's role at the bilateral, regional and multilateral levels. Third, supporting the interests of the national economy at the international level, which includes cooperation to promote local currency transactions, expand payment system connectivity and develop the sharia economy and finance.

The Governor of Bank Indonesia, Perry Warjiyo, expressed that the MoU reflects coordination and synergy between the two institutions in terms of increasing Indonesia's role and strengthening Indonesia's position internationally. Economic diplomacy, therefore, will be more effective in terms of maintaining the national interest and the positive perception of Indonesia's economy globally.

The MoU between the two institutions is effective until 15th May 2029.
