The Governor of Bank Indonesia, Mr. Darmin Nasution visited Museum Bank Indonesia’s stand at the lobby of Radius Prawiro Tower on 3 July 2012, at the exhibition to commemorate the 59th Anniversary of Bank Indonesia. On sucth visit, Mr. Darmin Nasution presented a token of appreciation to Mr. Rusdy Atamimi and Mr. Soetirto. Who are they? Mr. Rusdy Atamimi was a pilot who used to fly an aircraft belonged to Bank Indonesia to undertake Bank Indonesia’s duty in distributing money in throughout Indonesia in the period of 1965-1971. Whereas Soetirto was a technician and at the same time he was also a co-pilot in such aircraftto carry/distribute money to Bank Indonesia’s branch offices all over Indonesia.
In such exhibition, Museum Bank Indonesia displayed a replica of Beechcraft Super H-18 aircraft which has been used by the Air Flight Staff of Bank Indonesia to carry out the duty in distributing money. Such aircraft had 9 capacity of passengers, and applied one-pilot-integrity system, since Indonesia had a shortage of pilot at that time. As a supporting facility, BI rented a piece of land from PT AngkasaPura for special BI aircraft hangar at Kemayoran airport in which it was supported with a vault room to store the money. The exhibition of Museum BI also displayed money collections issued by Bank Indonesia, as well as e-kiosk providing information on the function and role of money for the public.
One thing that interest most of the visitors was the display of “gold bar” weighing 13.5 kg which cannot be touched by visitors. It was certainly not a real monetary gold which had been Indonesia’s foreign reserve, but it was a replica of gold which was intentionally produced resembling its real.
Two days before, on Monday morning of 1 July 2012 the day of BI’s anniversary, Museum Bank Indonesia held quiz and games at Museum BI for the public with special prizes such as electronic appliances. This event has attracted many people to come to Museum BI, more than two thousand people participated in such event.
