The Deputy Governor of Bank Indonesia, HalimAlamsyah, accompanied the founder of Ciputra University’s Entrepreneurship Center (UCEC), Ir. Ciputra, inaugurated the entrepreneurial training program for students on Monday, 3rdSeptember 2012, in Jakarta.As many as 38 students are participating in the training programoriginating from four seats of higher learningthat have made entrepreneurship a part of their mission/vision, namely the University of Indonesia, The SyarifHidayatullah State Islamic University, The State University of Jakarta and the Bogor Agricultural Institute.The theme chosen for the event was Green Entrepreneurs, namely thoseoriented towards environmental preservation and able to compete on the international stage.

 “The entrepreneurship program carries great gravitas for Bank Indonesia, therefore, the program will be rolled out not only at Bank Indonesia central offices in Jakarta but also at seven Bank Indonesia representative offices, including Surabaya, Bandung, Semarang, Makassar, Denpasar, Palembang and Yogyakarta with a target group comprised of students, former migrant workers (TKI)and the public at large” HalimAlamsyahcommented in his opening remarks.

 This kind of entrepreneurial training is not the first to be organised by related institutions/government agencies, however, the focus of the training provided by Bank Indonesia differs from that offered by other organisations. In addition to preparing prospective new entrepreneurs through a variety of training, Bank Indonesia is also committed to providing ongoing mentoring of the prospects when seeking sources of funds from the banking sector.

 ”Bank Indonesia is currently reviewing appropriate business start-up schemes in order to assist the banking sector evaluate risk. This will consequently simplify the credit/financing allocation process and support prospective entrepreneurs when starting up their businesses,” addedHalimAlamsyah. The entrepreneursdiscovered by Bank Indonesia through this training program will be recorded and count towards the achievement target of a program announced by the Government at the 2011 Entrepreneur Summit, which recommended the training of additional entrepreneurs who are creative, innovative and globally competitive.
