From December 2011 edition, International Economic and Monetary Indicators chapter are enhanced to follow developments in statistics and to provide more comprehensive data. The enhancements on International Economic and Monetary Indicators chapter is made by adding changing data sources and number of countries, such as G20 and BRIC countries (Brazil, Russia, India, and China). Detailed explanations on the new presentation format are listed on the Completion Matrix of Indonesian Economic and Financial Statistics (SEKI).

As of July 2014 edition, the Indonesia’s Balance of Payments (BoP) Statistics follows the Balance of Payments and International Investment Position Manual (BPM) – 6th edition from the previous BPM – 5th edition. The first stage of BPM6 implementation, changes mostly on the component reclassification and methodology enhancement and using all available sources there is. Dissemination format relatively same with BPM5 formats, because changes focused on reclassification and revision of the standard on goods and services components. On financial transaction, changes mainly covers dissemination format on direct investment, from investment flows method (direct investment abroad and foreign direct investment in Indonesia) to asset-liabilities method (direct investment – assets and direct investment – liabilities).

Data series (BPM6) available from 2004 to serve all purposes.

Bank Indonesia will continuously looking forward for more enhancement, both with the methodology and/or the sources, to step up to the BPM6 standard, as a continuing effort to highten the quality of our external sector statistics.
